JV Girls Basketball

In the first game since a championship victory last year, the JV lady sting basketball team took on a Frisch team with strong aspirations for this season. The game started off slow as it looked like it would be a defensive battle. Sophomore Helena Dweck supplied the offense in the first quarter with 5 points as the first quarter ended with a 5-0 SAR lead. The offense picked up a bit in the second quarter as SAR headed into halftime with a 12-6 lead. SAR scored 18 points in the third quarter to break the game open: led by Sophie Hecht who finished the game with a team high 11 points, and Rebecca Hyman who finished the game with 10 points including a buzzer beater to end the third quarter. Going into the forth quarter with a 20 point lead, Frisch's Sarah Lieberman went off nailing back to back jump shots cutting into SAR's lead. Unfortunately for Frisch, it was a case of too little too late as SAR got the home opener victory by a score of 34-24.

JV boys Hockey

The JV boys hockey team defeated Hillel in their season opener 6-0. Sophomore Solomon Freilich led the team with 2 goals, while Gordy Kolb, Shua Friedman, Jay Burian, and Adam Weiss each hd one goal. Strong goalie play by Jacob Nayowitz throughout as well also contributed to the shutout effort.

Varsity Boys Hockey:

In the seasons' home opener, the Varsity Boys Hockey team brought home the first win of the season in  dominant fashion. After Jack Schwalbe scored one of his two goals minutes into the game, SAR gained momentum and did not look back. After being down 4-0 early in the 3rd, North Shore scored their first goal of the game. Captain Jacob Ungar quickly responded with a goal 15 seconds later to destroy any 3rd period heroics North Shore was planning. Sam Schwalbe (Power play) and Josh Rosenberg also added to the 5 goal night as SAR defeated North Shore 5-2.

JV Boys Basketball Exhibition Win

JV Boys Basketball vs. Flatbush

SAR JV Boys Basketball defeated Flatbush, 44-41, in their preseason exhibition opener.  Despite being down by 12 in the third, SAR came back against the defending league finalists.  Dovie Marcus led the charge with 10 points and 6 blocks and Amichai Feit came off the bench to score 8.  Daniel Wisotsky hit a 3-pointer well beyond the arc with less than 2 minutes to play to put the Sting up for good.
