Sting Fall to Ramaz; Season Comes Down to Matchup Against MTA
January 18th, 2014- In the second game of the Alan T. Brown Foundation doubleheader, Varsity Boys Hockey fell to Ramaz 4-2.
Much like Thursday night's SAR-Ramaz basketball game and the JV Boys Hockey game preceding it, the game was physical from the get-go.
In the first period, the Sting (Zach Ungar) and the Rams each had a goal. In the second period, thanks to some controversial calls, Ramaz added two more goals and appeared to be in control. However, that was short-lived, as junior Sam Schwalbe scored a third period goal to cut SAR's deficit to one.
Unfortunately, that was as close as they'd get, as Ramaz scored an empty netter with the clock winding down to seal the win.
Daniel Schub's three goals led Ramaz, who now sit at 7-5-0-2 (16 points). The Sting drop to 5-7-1 (11 points) and must beat MTA in an elimination game on January 28th to secure a playoff spot.
