Varsity Hockey Falls To MTA; Tough Season Comes To An End
January 28th, 2014- In an inspired effort, SAR fell to MTA 5-2, effectively ending its season just short of a playoff berth. Overall, the Sting stood tall against the Lions in a winner-take-all affair, with the score even at two late in the game. SAR, based on the points system in the standings, had to win in regulation, or else it wouldn't qualify for the postseason. So as SAR pressured MTA's defense, MTA was able to capitalize with a clutch goal, putting them up 3-2. SAR was forced to pull Fortgang out of net, and MTA scored two more goals to finish off the Sting for good. Although SAR didn't make the playoffs, they showed much growth and maturation over the course of the season. Look for SAR to be a force next year with the bulk of its players returning for another campaign.
