November 7-10, 2013- Varsity Boys Basketball had a unique opportunity to take part in remembering a Ramaz student, Sam Gynes, in the form of a four team basketball tournament hosted by Ramaz. The four participating teams were SAR, Flatbush, Kushner, and of course Ramaz. The first round featured Ramaz against Kushner, and SAR taking on Flatbush. Ramaz won their game handily. The SAR game however was close merely due to a plethora of mistakes by both teams. Although The Sting looked like they were pulling away midway through the fourth, they relinquished a lead, and eventually lost 45-43. In the consolation game vs. Kushner, things were far better for The Sting. SAR dominated nearly the entire game, and eventually won 48-40. Ramaz defeated Flatbush in the championship. SAR would like to extend its Hakarat HaTov to Ramaz for the invitation, and hopefully helped in remembering such an inspirational figure.
