Varsity Basketball vs. Hillel

November 24, 2013- The SAR varsity boys basketball team took down the Hillel Heat by a score of 54-31. The Sting came out firing from the get co and never looked back. The Sting were able to work its post offense, leading to numerous open shots off of kick out opportunities. SAR's man defense looked quite strong, especially from Josh Shenwick, who was able to contain Hillel's high scoring guard, Nathan Bibi. It should be noted that off the bench, Moshe Schwartz also played stifling man defense on him. When Coach Halpert called on his boys to put on its zone defense, it produced multiple turnovers and fast break points. SAR held its opponent to just five points in the second quarter, and took a commanding lead into the half. In the second half, SAR's bench play was the story. The bench was able to hold together the large lead, and keep it that way. The final score was 54-31 in favor of the Sting. SAR was led in scoring by Sammy Hyman with 17, and Josh Deutsch, in his first start of the season, dropped in 9. SAR heads into the Thanksgiving weekend with a 4-1 win-loss record.
