Junior Varsity Boys Basketball vs. TABC

October 19, 2013- The SAR JV Boys basketball team began it's 2013-14 preseason campaign at its rival across bridge, TABC. Simply put, the first two quarters to start the game were a grind. SAR's defense looked strong to start, but found it tough to score on the offensive end. The shots were open, as the Sting penetrated TABC's defense in a rather consistent basis. They just seemed to rattle out rather often. Then, in the third quarter. the "O" came alive. Charlie Thou went on a torrid, a personal 8-0 run to kickstart what looked to be a lack luster offense. And then the defense. SAR's zone 1-3-1 press led to multiple TABC turnovers. The tide had officially turned. Following SAR's lead came a hard fought back and forth type style of basketball, with SAR heading to the fourth leading by 5. For as strong as the Sting came out in the third. The opposite seemed to plague SAR at the start of the fourth, and they saw it's lead diminish. Yehoshua Naor, TABC's big man was dominant all night long on the glass and in the paint. SAR managed to weather The Storm and head into the fifth quarter down by just 6. Both teams in the fifth displayed strong ball movement and key buckets whenever the team needed them. SAR's energy seemed to die down toward the end of the game, and Coach Courtney call a timeout with 2:21 left, trailing by 7. It didn't seem to help much, as Sting's chances of winning slimmed by the second. The last minute was quite interesting though. SAR was on a mission, pulling the game to within 4 points with 33.4 seconds to go. But the rally came too late. As SAR eventually lost by a score of 60-55.
