Varsity Boys Hockey vs. NORTH SHORE

Looking for some redemption following a tough loss in the regular season opener, SAR Varsity Boys Hockey took home a "W", defeating North Shore Hebrew Academy by a final score of 2-1. The game, played in Long Island on North Shore's sprawling campus, was by all accounts a must win affair. SAR wasted no time getting in a groove, as Senior Captain Jared Isaac ripped a slap shot passed NSHA's goalie to give his team a 1-0 lead in the first period. It's reported that the goal came from nearly half court, but nonetheless, a goal is a goal. The score remained the same until a lapse on the defensive end in the second period led to a NSHA goal, evening the score at 1. The team still managed to regain its composure and take the tie into the third period. Would a team, in dire need of a win, let this one slip? It looked so half way through the third, as neither team could put the ball in net. Then suddenly, with five to go, Junior Jack Schwalbe hustled to the net and worked some trickery, alluding the goalie and putting a marvelous wrap-around shot by him. The Sting took a 2-1 lead, and never relinquished it. Gilad Fortgang was very strong in net, and Zach Green was a valuable contributor to the win. The Sting look to ride on this momentum when they play MTA on October 30th.
