Varsity Boys Basketball vs. JEC

In a battle between two teams that equally wanted to win, the SAR Sting defeated the JEC Thunder 50-23.  Right from the opening tip, the Sting took control of the game.  Sting center Sammy Marcus made his presence known in the paint during the first quarter, and tight defense from the Sting enabled them to take a commanding 15 point lead at the end of one.  In the second quarter things slowed down, but the Sting continued to be in control going into the half with the a big lead.  In the third quarter, anchored by Josh Shenwick, the Sting continued to play pressure defense, but experienced a bit more difficulty dissecting the Thunder’s zone defense than it did it the first half.  Still, the Sting held a commanding lead going into the final frame.  In that final quarter, the Sting was led by Jeremy Sheinman off the bench, who ran the floor extremely well and ended up scoring 6 points.  It was an all-around team effort from the Sting, with each player seeing some action. Marcus scored 10 and Frenkel netted 8 to lead the team on the offensive end.  The Sting prepares for its next game against the Frisch Cougars on Saturday night October 26.
